The Power of 3: biography |
The Power of 3 have their roots firmly in the blues, though their individual influences and experiences, gained through many years of gigging and touring in the UK and abroad, are many and varied. Guitarist and vocalist Mick Shaw first formed the band in 1993, but the current line-up started to come together when bass guitarist Pete Sidwell sat in for a few gigs at short notice in '95, joining as a full-time member soon after.
When the trio's original drummer left in '97, Mick immediately called on Mart Bradley, with whom he had previously worked in the mid eighties. This line-up worked so well that the trio remained the same for fourteen years, gigging solidly and building a sound reputation and dedicated following along the South coast.
Early 2011 was a worrying time for a while after Mart announced his decision to leave the band in order to spend some more quality time with his family. However, Mick remembered Steve Turner, whom he had first met some years ago, and after tracking him down and discovering that they still shared the same taste in music, the line-up was again complete. Steve is a formidable drummer who has added a new dimension to the band and who has been accepted enthusiastically by the trio's many followers.
The band continue to develop and refine their individual blend of blues-rock standards, covers and original material, all played with an impressive level of communication, dynamics and sheer musical ability.
